lyrics
If you could see me now
Through some kind of telepathic tube
Just for a moment as I sit here in my room
Could you see that I haven’t learned a thing?
That I’m less young but as dumb as the day that you left me?
Aw, do you receive me?
A signal, an outline, the shape of my head?
The glow of the screen that’s been warming my bed?
The picture may scramble the truth that I hide
That I’m less young but as dumb as the day that you left me
Well, I’ve got myself some new duds
And I’ve made myself some rules
But don’t let that deceive you, baby
I’m still the same old fool you knew
Cause I can see you now
Though I’m not sure I can handle the sight
The arms of a stranger, the light in your eyes
That’s making me wonder if I’m on your mind
See?
I’m less young but as dumb as the day that you left me

Nice record. Calm and relaxing music. Lyrics very simple and banal but it kind of adds to the ambiance.
maybe a little bit repetitive from song to song. kwack

My friend Lawson introduced me to this last October, and I didn’t appreciate it so much at the time, but it’s become one of my favorite albums of all time. It’s gotten me through a breakup, is excellent for crying or thinking or driving or really anything. As an aspiring musician, i want my music to impact others in the way Microphones in 2020 has impacted me. My thanks go out to Phil Elverum for writing this and Lawson [redacted] for introducing me to it. daviecrockpot
